After the critically-acclaimed success of Violet at the Charing Cross Theatre, the venue will receive another UK premiere this year with Amour. First staged on Broadway in 2002, the show was nominated for 5 Tony Awards including best new musical, drawing audiences into its charming Parisian world. Filled with characters doing grand gestures and dreaming of even bigger ones, you’ll want to see what can happen in 1950s Paris throughout this story. So, if you enjoy seeing brand new musicals and want to bask in an idyllic French setting, you’ll want to see Amour.

This fantasy musical centres around Dusoleil, a male civil servant who lives alone in Paris. Writing letters to his mother to pass the time, the topic of conversation regularly concerns Isabelle, a woman Dusoleil knows and is eager to please. Knowing that Isabelle is locked away by her controlling husband, Dusoleil does all he can to set her free, especially when he learns of his incredible talent to walk through walls. Stealing from citizens in war-impoverished France and giving to the poor, this Robin Hood inspired story of doing the greater good comes to the fore in Amour, as he tries to change his own life.

Featuring music by award-winning jazz pianist Michel Legrand and English lyrics by Jeremy Sams, Amour is set to be a charming musical offering up a slice of quintessential French charm at this off-West End venue. Don’t miss out on your chance to see Amour and book your tickets now.

Gary Tushaw will return to Charing Cross Theatre to play Dusoleil, with previous Charing Cross credits including Ragtime.

The musical is adapted from the 1943 short story Le Passe-Muraille by Marcel Aymé.

The show was only performed 48 times on Broadway.
