Aspects of Love

Aspects of Love is the latest musical spectacular to open its doors at the Off-West End venue the Menier Chocolate Factory, where some of the biggest shows in London have been born. With an impressive cast of actors and performers from the stage and television, plus direction from the renowned film and theatre director Sir Trevor Nunn, it is likely to be a compelling experience full of twists and turns, exposing the affects of love and the ways in which it can turn matters upside down. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical, based on the novella by David Garnett, will be open from mid July to late September 2010.

The auditorium of the London-bridge venue will be transformed into the France of the 1940s, as a character by the name of Alex is travelling across the country when his life is changed forever. He soon meets Rose and after falling in love they have a momentous relationship, which seeks to define their lives for decades and even have an effect on future generations. Aspects of Love, therefore, seeks to demonstrate the ways in which romance and the binds between lovers can have profound effects on people’s lives, with the song Love Changes Everything showcasing this all too well.

Director Trevor Nunn concerns himself with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1980s musical classic after a long career as one of the most renowned theatre directors in the business. His work has seen him direct shows on Broadway, the West End and for the screen, with London theatre credits that include A Little Night Music in 2009, The Woman in White in 2004, The Merchant of Venice/Summerfolk in 1995 (earning a Laurence Olivier Award), Les Miserables in 1985 and Cats in 1981. He is also the director of the 1986 movie Lady Jane.

Appearing onstage in the production are actors Michael Arden and Katherine Kingsley, both of whom have numerous credits to their names. Arden is an American actor who has worked on Broadway and for television in shows like Bones, whilst Kingsley was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award-nomination for Piaf at the Donmar Warehouse in 2009.

Aspects of Love is at the Menier Chocolate Factory from Thursday 15th July 2010 (previews from Wednesday 7th July 2010) to Sunday 26th September 2010.
