You’ll have heard countless recounts about the lives of those affected by 9/11 in America, but we’re pretty sure you won’t know the individual stories told in Come From Away. Telling the story of how a small town in Canada welcomed in thousands of people left stranded by the attack on the Twin Towers, you’ll find out about what brought the community together in the face of adversity.

The musical may only be 100 minutes long, but it definitely packs a punch and will take you on a musical adventure through the Canadian community that opened up to let others in. So, if you want to see a heart-warming show that shines a positive light into a modern catastrophe, you’ll want to book your tickets for Come From Away.

As the show opens, we see the residents of Gander as they wake up to the news that there has been a terrorist attack in New York City. In the immediate hours after, 38 planes are diverted to Gander airport, leaving around 7,000 passengers stranded in a foreign location. Throughout the show, audiences learn of individual stories, dramatising real-life events of what happened in the aftermath of 9/11, with those stranded being labelled as “Come From Aways” making the most of their new found surroundings.

Even though Come From Away originates from the horrors of 9/11, the story does not dwell on negativity. Instead, the musical is a hopeful one, where positive thinking ultimately carries the residents of Gander and those stranded through to make the most of a potentially catastrophic situation. Opening on Broadway in 2017 and in Ireland towards the end of 2018, Come From Away will make a mark in the West End from January 2019.
