Every Christmas audiences flock to venues around the United Kingdom to indulge in a spot of pantomime and this has been true at the Lyric Hammersmith for the past ten years. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, audiences in West London are being treated to this unmissable production of Dick Whittington, with the actor Luke Latchman in the title role.
Based on the real-life Richard Whittington, who lived between the 14th and 15th centuries, Dick Whittington is the classic tale of a poor man who sells his cat and makes the transition from poverty to riches. A classic pantomime, it features song, dance, music and some wonderful performance, making it into something truly special.
Luke Latchman, who plays Dick, has a wealth of experience in a range of shows in the capital and in other venues in the South of England, so he is a great choice to bring life to the iconic Dick Whittington at the Lyric Hammersmith. He has also previously appeared in festive shows as well, including A Christmas Carol for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other cast members include Hollie Edwin, Jodie Jacobs, Margaret Cabourn-Smith, Carl Mullaney and Keziah Joseph, amongst many others.
Directed by Jude Christian and written by Christian and Cariad Lloyd, Dick Whittington runs at the Lyric Hammersmith in West London until early 2019.
