Double Olivier winner Robert Lindsay (RADA the programme needs to tell me!) teeters on that fine line between casual and careless and you'll have to judge which side he falls on...I felt I wanted to remind him that it's me who's meant to be laughing and not him; and that if the hat tricks don't work try to practice them more. Rufus Hound is genuinely funny and the amusing plot, great tunes, dazzling scenery don't add up to the standing ovation some tried desperately to give it, especially as it was all too amplified, with the exception of Katherine Kinsley who is a real belter!

Went last night (21.3.14) with friends and loved the show; anything with Robert L in is sure to be good (he was my dad's absolute fav as Citizen Smith all those years ago Tooting!) and he was superb as the crooning mastermind of the con super-con world; Rufus H was OK, but looked a little uncomfortable when ever he had to dance or sing, but was very funny; Sam Bond was pure class, as ever; also, the very good supporting cast make this a breezy evening to enjoy and the action cuts along nicely, especially in the fast second half of the show. Only problem is the hugely pushed up prices here at The Savoy... Unless they introduce many more 'cheap seats' at the back, they are never going to fill this place to a respectable audience size, so the run could be not as long as it should deserve - a good night out, but too expensive on current prices, and this is only preview prices!!
