LA Dance Project

Last year an artist collective known as the LA Dance Project was formed by Benjamin Millepied and together with Nico Muhly, composer, Charles Fabius, producer, and Dmitri Chamblas, dancer, they performed an array of new works around Los Angeles, eventually settling at the Los Angeles Theatre Center. Now they bring the magic to Sadler’s Wells, where new works from Millepied and Justin Peck will form part of the showcase.

Millepied is a renowned French choreographer who has worked on ballets around the world, ensuring that he is known from country to country. Such status led to him working on the Darren Aronofsky movie Black Swan, putting together ballets for the likes of the Ballet de Genève and the Metropolitan Opera, and also being chosen as the Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet (from September 2014). In addition to Black Swan he has also worked on movies like the animated Barbie In The Nutcracker.

With the LA Dance Project, however, he has put together something truly special and iconic and 2013 will certainly be a busy year for them, with stops in Edinburgh and Paris among the tour dates (the London leg of the journey takes place in October 2013). As such London theatre audiences will have a chance to witness the magic that has already engulfed those at locations like the Los Angeles Theatre Center, the Museum Of Contemporary Art and beyond.

In a year that also sees the return of the Stuttgart Ballet with Made In Germany, The Mixed Bill of the LA Dance Project takes place from Wednesday 2nd October 2013.
