Some bands come and go and others make a lasting impression. Then there are those who legacy can still be found decades later.

With that in mind it is clear ABBA fits into the latter category. Not only has their work been admired worldwide, with fans listening to their records on loop, but generation after generation find plenty to love. It means that today, in 2017, their catchy lyrics are an everyday part of popular culture.

So it is no wonder that Mamma Mia!, the jukebox musical based on their hits, has attracted audiences from all over the world since it first emerged in the West End back in 1999. Though its cast has changed and its legacy has spun-off into a film version and more, the core show remains the same today in 2017.

So take a trip to the Novello Theatre for Mamma Mia! and experience the highs and lows of some lovable characters as their story is told with the songs of ABBA as a backdrop.

Mamma Mia! focuses on the mother-daughter duo of Sophie and Donna Sheridan as the marriage between Sophie and heartthrob Skye gets closer. But there’s a problem – Sophie wants her dad to walk her down the aisle, which would be easy if she knew whom he is!

Consulting Donna’s diary, she narrows it down to three men and promptly invites all three of them to attend, causing chaos and plenty of hilarious moments, whilst the music of ABBA leads the way. Songs include a range of hits from Dancing Queen and Super Trouper to Thank You For The Music and, of course, Mamma Mia!

It is a story that has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences all over the world, but seeing the show in London is a chance to see where it all began back in 1999.

The production has been a huge hit for producers like Judie Craymer, who utilised the lessons learnt from Mamma Mia! and developed the well known Spice Girls musical Viva Forever as well.

The show was also adapted into a hit movie in 2008 with Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan among the cast members. It was notable as it topped the charts in the United Kingdom, beating one of the biggest films of that year – The Dark Knight. So once again it is clear to see that Mamma Mia! remains a huge draw.

Mamma Mia! continues its popular run at the Novello Theatre in London’s West End. So make sure you catch it in the home of theatre!
