'Here's the pitch' said Ben, 'It's a 3 act opera about fish, well not so much fish but the folk who fish'. Thank God they bought such a unwholesome premis for had they not we'd have been deprived Britten's and Britain's greatest opera. And the current ENO production from 2009 still looks pretty fresh despite getting a bit too busy at times and I'm still mystified by the two nieces as drop-outs from Kubrik's The Shining. Nevertheless Stuart Skelton inspires pity from his audience as the eponymous antihero but Elza van der Heever is well worth her fee as the love interest.
OMG! We Went to the matinee performance on sat 12th Oct it woz better than brilliant ! JON LEE woz so astoundingly perfect!
