Lovely script that kept pretty close to the story we all love. I didn’t feel replacing Jona’s friend with a friend of Sam helped the story. I think that the friend of Annie was miscast even though she played the part well. Didn’t like the scene with the personal trainer I also felt that the show was on too big a stage for the amount of people who were in the cast. It was too vast and not as intimate. A smaller venue would have helped with the pathos of the story. I also would have liked at least one big company number even if we had had a reprise of a main song. There was not a memorable song that you go out of the theatre singing eitherThe show for me definitely needs a bit of a rework and for me a smaller venue would have added to my enjoyment considerably. However, the main principals sang well and did their best to get over the enormous space that they had to fill. Unfortunately those of us who love the film and Meg and ‘Tom in particular missed a lot of the humour which is in the film. The second act had a little more humour. But please put some more back in!! For me, i hope to see the show in March when it has had a bit of rework and I look forward to seeing it, hopefully either in a smaller venue or with lots more cast!
