Audiences cannot get enough of jukebox musicals, which entertain crowds around the West End, and at the same time music lovers still enjoy the hits of Take That. So combining these to create the musical The Band is a no brainer and it now heads to the Theatre Royal Haymarket to become one of the biggest shows of the year.

Boasting a memorable and heart warming story, great songs from Take That’s back catalogue, and wonderful performances, The Band is sure to put smiles on the faces of audiences around the capital. It will undoubtedly stand up alongside other jukebox musicals like Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Thriller Live to ensure audiences continue to flock to the West End.

The story centres on a group of friends – five teenage girls - who follow a boy band through thick and thin. It’s part of what bonds them and plays a huge part in shaping their teenage years, so when we catch up with them nearly three decades later we get to see how this effect is continued with a grand reunion.

Along the way audiences will witness some spellbinding performances of Take That songs like Greatest Day, Relight My Fire and Never Forget, amongst others.

Take That have been performing around the world since they first formed in the late 1980s, releasing songs like Why Can’t I Wake Up With You, A Million Love Songs and Could It Be Magic, in addition to more recent additions like Higher Than Higher and Giants. These songs and other appeared in top-selling albums like Take That & Party, Everything Changes and Nobody Else in the 1990s and Wonderland from 2017. They were arguably one of the biggest boy bands in the world in the 90s, making stars of Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange, and they continue to influence new artists.

So it is no wonder that they get the jukebox musical treatment in The Band, providing audiences with another fantastic West End show from writer Tim Firth (The Girls, Calendar Girls and Our House, amongst others) and ensuring eager crowds at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

The Band runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Saturday 1st December 2018.
