Age Restriction: TriOperas is a dazzling experience for audiences of all ages

Three operas in one show at the Peacock Theatre. TriOperas is a show that will dazzle aficionados and newcomers alike as some wonderful arias are performed like you’ve never heard before. Mixed with contemporary styles and topped off with some stunning visual stunts, this will take three well known operas and turn them on their heads.

Those operas are Puccini’s Turandot, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Bizet’s Carmen, all told in shortened form. and audiences will relish as their beloved stories unfold on the stage of the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End.

Turandot is, of course, the classic opera that focuses on Prince Calaf in China and the Princess Turandot, the former of whom must pass a life-or-death test to win the latter’s hand in marriage. Dating back to the 1920s, it is a famous part of the operatic repertoire, given a new lease of life at the Peacock with this new production mixing contemporary styles with the classic music.

Madama Butterfly, meanwhile, is perhaps one of Puccini’s most famous operas and has been a staple of stages around the world since the early 1900s. Based on the short story Madame Butterfly, it is an important part of world culture that has abundant admirers. Once again, this is given some contemporary stylings that will make this right at home at the Peacock Theatre.

Finally, Carmen is Bizet’s masterpiece that takes place in Spain and introduces us to the gypsy Carmen, the solder Don José and the matador Escamillo. Originally performed back in 1875, it has enjoyed a long life on stages worldwide and continues to find new fans, just as it will at the Peacock Theatre as it is given the contemporary treatment as well.

TriOperas appears at the Peacock Theatre from 23rd May 2018.
