Age Restriction: Suitable for ages 10+

Broadway shows often come over to our side of the pond, with shows including The Book of Mormon and the hotly anticipated West End premiere of Dear Evan Hansen. Bringing the sweetest treats to the West End, Waitress is set to open in early 2019 as one of the biggest shows that West End audiences can look forward to in the forthcoming year. With an original score by the artist Sara Bareilles whose hits include “Love Song” and “Brave”, it’s set to be a unique musical that will tempt audiences in with the smell of freshly baked pies wafting around the West End. So, if you want to see what’s set to be one of the biggest musicals of 2019, then you’ll want to book your tickets for Waitress as soon as you can.

Playing at the Adelphi Theatre, you’ll hear the delicately spoken words “Sugar, Butter, Flour”. Three important ingredients to baking a pie become even more than that in the show, telling the story of small-town waitress Jenna Hunterson. Fearful that she is pregnant with a child to her unloving husband, she takes a pregnancy test which confirms the worst. She’s pregnant.

Growing closer to her gynaecologist, the pair form an unhealthy relationship. Mix in the local pie competition that offers up a large grand prize to the winner and Jenna is stuck. Not knowing what to do, she tries to make every decision by being guided by her unborn child, in an emotional musical which will make even the toughest audience members crack.

Waitress is a show with all the right ingredients. Nominated for many awards on Broadway, time will tell to see whether the production achieves the same success in the UK. Before it whips up a major frenzy, get yourself down to the Adelphi Theatre to see Waitress while it’s smokin’ hot!
