Most people only know Oscar Wilde for The Importance of being Earnest and his other lays are less often seen. This one is also very funny and the lighthearted look at society life and hypocrisy lend themselves to the story line well. Anne Read was superb as Jane, as you would expect from such an accomplished actress. The rest of the cast were excellently chosen for their roles and brought out their characters with humour and emotion. The set designer needs special credit for a variety of settings of which I lost count but probably five beautiful backdrops. A very enjoyable night out and if the standard is this good then the other four plays in this season will be a joy also.
