The Ambassadors Theatre embarks on a brand new adventure in January 2018 as it says goodbye to the long-running Stomp and welcomes this acclaimed transfer from the National Theatre.

A far cry from the percussive musical style of the outgoing show, David Eldridge’s Beginning is a play set in the aftermath of a party that has already wowed audiences on the stage of the Dorfman National Theatre with Justine Mitchell and Sam Troughton in the lead roles and they both make the journey to the West End as well.

Beginning is an apt title because this story begins in an unusual place – at the end of a party. Here we meet the characters of Laura, who threw the party, and Danny, the last man standing. Played by Mitchell and Troughton, these characters start afresh the morning after, with the show focusing on events going forward, with more drinking and an unconventional romance on the offering.

It is an intriguing premise and one that has impressed critics during its run at the National Theatre. But then we have come to expect no less from writer David Eldridge, whose work has been staged around the capital to positive receptions. His credits prior to Beginning include Holy Warriors at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, In Basildon at the Royal Court Theatre, The Stock Da’wa at the Hampstead Theatre and The Knot Of The Heart at the Almeida Theatre amongst a range of others, though one of his most famous is Under The Blue Sky at the Royal Court Theatre (later revived at the Duke of York’s).

So his work has naturally found a large audience and they continue to flock to see his latest work, which has proven true for Beginning at the Dorfman National Theatre. So it is an exciting new journey for audiences headed to the Ambassadors Theatre from January 2018.

Add to that a top cast that includes Justine Mitchell, well known for a range of plays at the National Theatre, the West End and beyond, plus Sam Troughton, a renowned Shakespearean actor, and you have the recipe for a must-see show.

Beginning will play at the West End venue from Monday 15th January 2018.
