James McAvoy leads the cast in the first production of Jamie Lloyd’s newest season at the Playhouse Theatre. McAvoy will star as Cyrano De Bergerac in the play of the same name from November 2019, taking on the iconic role. Recognisable for starring in the X-Men series as Professor Charles Xavier alongside numerous appearances on stage and screen, you won’t want to miss James McAvoy on stage. James McAvoy plays Cyrano in the upcoming production, previously working with Jamie Lloyd in Macbeth at Trafalgar Studios. Anita-Joy Uwajeh will play Roxane, with Eben Figueiredo as Christian.

Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano De Bergerac was first performed in 1897. It is freely adapted by Martin Crimp for the production.

The play is responsible for introducing the word ‘panache’ to the English language.

The performance of Cyrano de Bergerac on Thursday, 20 February will be filmed live for National Theatre Live. Please note earlier performance start time of 7pm. Latecomers will not be admitted. This is a studio performance. There will be several cameras in the auditorium and views of the stage may be blocked at any time during the performance. There will be 360 degree filming which will result in audience members being filmed and appearing on screen. By attending you are agreeing to being filmed and appearing in the broadcast.
