There are a host of new plays opening in the capital this year but for the latest production opening its doors at the Southwark Playhouse we turn our attentions to Oliver Cotton, whose new play Dessert will be directed by Sir Trevor Nunn from July 2017.

So a trip to the Southwark Playhouse will provide the chance to see the world premiere of a show that introduces us to the characters suffering through a dinner party with disastrous results. The main characters are a couple and their American friends, whom they have invited to their dinner party before the events take a turn for the worst as greed and score settling take centre stage.

Oliver Cotton is no stranger to a London stage, having acted in numerous shows and penned others. Prior to Dessert he penned Daytona, which appeared at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2014 and over the years he has been an acting regular across the West End and beyond, from Life x 3 at the Old Vic to Henry IV at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

So audiences can expect something truly remarkable when Dessert opens in London and with a director in Sir Trevor Nunn as well, all eyes will be on the Southwark Playhouse. As one of the most renowned directors in the capital he has been behind some of the best-received work of the last few decades, picking up numerous awards along the way.

Dessert, under the direction of Trevor Nunn, plays at the Southwark Playhouse from Wednesday 12th July 2017.
