Double Bill: Romeo & Juliet and Prince of Denmark

In addition to the individual performances of Romeo And Juliet and Prince Of Denmark as part of the National Youth Theatre’s season at the Ambassadors Theatre, there are also going to be some double bills so that audiences can experience both productions in the same evening.

Romeo And Juliet updates the action of Shakespeare’s classic and relocates the action to the 1980s against the New Wave scene and the troubling economic climate. Penned by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Paul Roseby it promises to be a memorable production of the classic piece, giving new fans and old something to remember.

And whilst that offers us a new way of enjoying Romeo And Juliet, Prince Of Denmark does the same thing to another of the Bard’s famous plays. This prequel to Hamlet brings us a new adventure featuring familiar characters as teenagers, a decade prior to the events in the original play. It involves teenage rage against their parents’ royal expectations.

Directed by Anthony Banks and featuring the talented performers of the National Youth Theatre, it will not be one to miss when it arrives in the West End.

The Double Bill of Romeo And Juliet and Prince Of Denmark takes place at the Ambassadors Theatre on select evenings from September 2013.
