The Theatre Royal Haymarket regularly welcomes some compelling and prestigious shows, with some of the biggest names of the stage making their way to the West End venue to perform in some beloved masterpieces.

For the latest show headed to the Theatreland location we turn our attentions to Bryony Lavery’s 1990s play Frozen. A harrowing account of kidnap told from various perspectives, the story has earned fans around the country since it was first staged at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 1998.

So for those looking for a thought-provoking and compelling narrative, Frozen is just the show as Suranne Jones and Jason Watkins team up to star under the direction of Jonathan Munby. Both bring plenty of experience to the stage and both will provide an unmissable experience for West End audiences.

The three characters whose perspectives are explored in Frozen are Nancy, the mother of the kidnapped Rhona, Ralph, a murderer and, finally, Agnetha, a psychiatrist from the other side of the Atlantic. What begins as a normal evening when Rhona walks to visit her Grandma takes on a more sinister dimension as a nightmare unfolds for her mother. It is a story about the unthinkable and will leave a lasting impression on audiences in the capital.

So with such a powerful story unfolding onstage it falls upon some real talent to bring the characters to the stage and producers have made a major coup with both Suranne Jones and Jason Watkins. The former returns to a London stage following Beautiful Things at the Arts Theatre, her most recent credit in the capital, in 2013, whilst her other credits include Orlando at the Manchester Royal Exchange, Top Girls at the Chichester Minerva Theatre and A Few Good Men at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Add her television roles in the likes of Doctor Foster, Coronation Street and Doctor Who to the list and you have the make-up of a highly experienced performer who will bring a lot to her role in Frozen in 2018.

This is not a show to miss as the Theatre Royal Haymarket continues its reputation for presenting some stand-out and fascinating shows. Frozen runs at the West End venue from Friday 9th February 2018.
