Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain - Part 4

Age Restriction: 5+

Ask younger audiences to name their favourite shows and they will undoubtedly name some of recent years’ stand-out summer hits. Amongst them is the Horrible Histories series, which has returned year after year with their Barmy Britain series and has included three distinct shows as well as two best-of productions.

Now it’s back! Horrible Histories once again graces a West End stage in 2018 with Barmy Britain Part 4, which once again packs a hilarious punch as it delves into more figures and eras from British history, this time at the Apollo Theatre.

Over the years the Barmy Britain series has landed at both the Apollo and Garrick Theatres and they have proven popular choices for young audiences during the summer months. Alongside The Gruffalo and We’re Going On A Hunt, the shows have become a staple of the capital when school is out and a new generation is getting its first taste of West End magic.

Horrible Histories does it by providing hilarity, gruesome truth and educational accounts of our history. First beginning as a series of books in the 1990s and eventually becoming a popular television series, it has gone from strength to strength, eventually becoming a series of stage shows thanks to the Birmingham Stage Company.

In previous versions of Barmy Britain we have witnessed stories about figures like Dick Turpin, Guy Fawkes and Boudicca, but this time, for Barmy Britain Part 4, we turn our attentions to Mary Queen Of Scots, Elizabeth I, Henry VIII plus other kings and queens, whilst various era from Roman times onwards are studied onstage.

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Part 4 runs at the Apollo Theatre (also the ongoing home of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in 2018) from Friday 3rd August 2018 (previews from Thursday 2nd August 2018).
