Pinter 3: Landscape / A Kind of Alaska / Monologue

The Harold Pinter Theatre provides the perfect location for this celebratory season of works from the venue’s namesake. The Pinter At The Pinter Season brings a range of his one-act plays to the West End, matching top onstage talent with gifted craftsman and directors working behind the scenes. The result is an unmissable season of shows that provide the perfect way to mark the playwright’s career ten years after his death in 2008.

Part of the season is this double bill containing Landscape and A Kind Of Alaska, which are directed by Jamie Lloyd and star the well known performer Tamsin Greig.

Landscape is Pinter’s 1969 play that focuses on the characters of Beth and Duff and the ways in which they interact with one another (and don’t). It was first seen at the National Theatre in 1969, having also been broadcast on the radio. Since then it has also been re-broadcast and presented on numerous stages.

A Kind Of Alaska, meanwhile, dates back to the 1980s and focuses on the character of Deborah, who fell into a coma at the age of 16 and awakens decades later as a middle-aged woman with the same mind. It premiered at the National Theatre in 1982.

The presence of both Jamie Lloyd and Tamsin Greig working to bring these shows to life will ensure a lot of attention for Landscape and A Kind Of Alaska. Lloyd is best known for his work at the recent seasons of Trafalgar Transformed, where he presented shows like The Hothouse, whilst Greig is known for stage productions like Labour Of Love at the Noël Coward Theatre and television shows like Black Books, Green Wing and Episodes.

Lanscape and A Kind Of Alaska appear in The Pinter At The Pinter Season at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Thursday 6th September 2018.
