It was an amazing performance, brilliantly acted and the costumes & set outstanding. Add to that a beautiful theatre, how lucky we are.

This is a difficult play to stage successfully for modern audiences, due mainly to the wordplay. This version is excellent: it conveys the themes cleverly and with musical and other support. The acting is outstanding and very funny in the places where it is meant to be. The final touch of having the four male protagonists appear in WWI military costume, thus putting yet another obstacle in place to their protestations of love is brilliant: it suddenly concretises the Edwardian setting. The use of music is wonderful. I know the play well but my partner did not. Nevertheless it communicated immediately to him and entertained him immensely. Congratulations RSC, this was a wonderful evening.
