One for the Road-New World Order-Mountain Language-Ashes to Ashes

The Pinter At The Pinter Season makes a big impression with this foursome of shows directed by some top practitioners and featuring great acting talent.

Harold Pinter’s work is admired around the world and it is here at home that many continue to flock to his shows, as demonstrated not only in the myriad sell-out production appearing nationwide, but also in the presence of the venue the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End.

It is at that latter location that The Pinter At The Pinter Season provides double, triple and quadruple bills of some of his one-act plays, marking the decade-long anniversary of Harold Pinter’s death in 2008. In this quadruple bill, audiences can see One For The Road, The New World Order, Mountain Language and Ashes To Ashes.

One For The Road is Pinter’s 1984 play that is set in ‘a room’ and sees a government worker torture someone for information, revealing more about himself in the process.

The New World Order is Pinter’s 1991 play that he directed himself when it was first seen in London. It follows two men – also interrogators – plan to get information from an insurgent, who is tied to a chair, and the audience discovers the cruel and sadistic ways in which they intend to do so.

Mountain Language is Pinter’s 1988 play that features two female characters, prison officers and a prisoner and like those above deals with politics and language during its gripping runtime.

Ashes To Ashes, meanwhile, takes audiences to a living room in a story first seen in 1996. The characters include Devlin and Rebecca and the tension builds as they discuss the horrifying world outside their front door.

One For The Road, The New World Order, Mountain Language and Ashes To Ashes appears in a quadruple bill at the Harold Pinter Theatre as part of the Pinter At The Pinter Season, which runs from Thursday 6th September 2018.
