Othello - National Youth Theatre

September 2017 brings the National Youth Theatre back to the West End, this time teaming up with Frantic Assembly as they bring their new take on Othello to the Ambassadors Theatre. As ever with the National Youth Theatre this will be an opportunity to witness the work of upcoming talents as young performers take to the stage and follow in the footsteps of some of the biggest stars of today.

We’re all familiar with the story of Shakespeare’s Othello, with the title character a General in the Venetian army of late 16th century, and he is surrounded by iconic characters as well, from Iago and Desdemona to Cassio and Bianca. But this production will bring the action to modern day Britain and take a look at the world in which we live. The result will be something truly remarkable, proving unmissable for NYT and Shakespeare fans alike.

The National Youth Theatre is a charity that shows off the future stars of the UK and this can be seen by some of the big names that have previously tread the boards as part of the group. From Helen Mirren to Derek Jacobi, plus others like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet, it has always demonstrated top talent in years gone by. This remains true in 2017 as the latest generation takes to the stage, this time in a unique and unmissable production of Othello.

It is directed by Simon Pittman, who has been behind a host of shows around the country, including The Last Of The Lake on tour.

Othello runs at the Ambassadors Theatre from Friday 29th September 2017.
