Sea Wall

The Old Vic Theatre is one of the capital’s most prestigious venues, attracting audiences from around the world and staging some stand-out shows to great success. It makes it one of the highest profile venues outside of the West End and so it is easy to see how it attracts such top talent.

With that in mind it is no wonder the venue has lasted for such a long time, celebrating two centuries of entertainment in 2018, and it has plenty of celebrations up its sleeve.

One such celebration is the revival of this monologue Sea Wall, from writer Simon Stephens, which is set to play at the Lambeth venue in June with well known performer Andrew Scott taking on the solo role.

The monologue comes from the character of Alex, who has a lot to say about his life, which seems to be going well but has some unforeseen elements that change one’s outlook.

Sea Wall was Stephens’ 2008 play that first appeared at the Bush Theatre. It is one of many shows from an acclaimed writer whose work over the years has included some major productions, like Harper Regan from 2007, Heisenberg from 2015 and his adaptation of The Threepenny Opera from 2016.

Sea Wall makes a brief appearance at the Old Vic Theatre from Monday 18th June 2018.
