The End of History

Age Restriction: 14+

Although the Royal Court may be a stone’s throw from the bright lights of the West End, the theatre is often home to world premieres and exciting productions. Later this year, audiences will be able to see the end of history... at the theatre, the latest play written by Jack Thorne. Based on 1990s politics and generational divisions, the play follows a family whose relationships are tested, especially when it’s been a long time since they sat at a table together. So, if you’re looking to see a world premiere filled with conversation sure to resonate with society today, you’ll want to see the end of history...

Set in Newbury in 1997, Sal and David are cooking for the family, pulling off a coup as they’ve managed to get all three of their children home at the same time. Eldest son Carl is bringing his new girlfriend to meet everyone for the first time; middle daughter Polly is back from Cambridge University for the occasion; and youngest Tom will hopefully make it out of detention in time for dinner. Spoonfeeding left-wing ideas and a welfare state rather than a slap-up meal, see if the children will be able to live up to their parents’ expectations.

the end of history... will not be the only play written by Jack Thorne staged in London this year. At Christmas, the Old Vic welcomes Thorne’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol for another year, while Harry Potter and the Cursed Child continues to delight audiences at the Palace Theatre. But, if you’re looking for one of this year’s hottest plays, you’ll want to book tickets to see the end of history... now.
