As a pantomime slapstick it was tremendous entertainment. The cast apologized to Mollier but who cares. The performance on its own made the lively audience laugh until it cried. A good night out!

This should have been a treat but unfortunately its been turned into a pantomime. A basic structure has been lost in favour of wild antics and some characters, such as the daughter who is about to be wed to an old man, get lost. A good director needs to take control. Also the character of the Miser lacks a sense of irony which would have made him more amusing and more likeable. As he is so unlikeable we don't really care about his fate.
