The Night of the Iguana

Set to enjoy another revival in the West End, The Night of the Iguana returns to London, as Clive Owen leads the cast as the Reverend T. Lawrence Shannon. Written by Tennessee Williams, The Night of the Iguana is one of his lesser known works, yet has been revived numerous times across the West End and Broadway, with actors including James Earl Jones, Eileen Atkins and Alfred Molina all having a The Night of the Iguana credit to their name. With this production set to include a star-studded cast of a similar calibre, you won’t want to miss this production. So, if you enjoy A Streetcar Named Desire and want to see another one of Williams’ works, you’ll need to book tickets for The Night of the Iguana now.

Transporting audiences to 1940, audiences will meet a clergyman at a hotel in Mexico, who has recently been ousted from his religious circles for referring to God as a “delinquent”. Facing an identity crisis, the reverend takes on a new career as a tour guide, meeting an array of eccentric holidaymakers. As the story unfolds, audiences will learn more about those at the hotel including the manager and a group of German tourists, especially when a torrential storm looms over the area. One night brings them together, and will leave them forever altered. What path will they choose?

Plays by Tennessee Williams are often performed in the West End, with audiences lapping up stories by the American playwright. In 2009, Rachel Weisz starred in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar Warehouse and Sienna Miller played Margaret in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Young Vic. But, it’s the upcoming production of The Night of the Iguana that will get everyone talking in 2019. Make sure you’ve got your tickets now!
