Top Girls

First performed over 30 years ago, Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls receives its National Theatre premiere at the Lyttleton Theatre. Set at an employment agency and starring an all-female cast, it’s an insight into opportunities for women and what it means to be in charge as a female. So, if you enjoy a classic play told in a brand new light, you’ll want to see Top Girls.

Marlene is a hard-nosed businesswoman for the Top Girls Employment Agency, who finds herself throwing a dinner party to celebrate her recent promotion. But, when guests get talking, the events of the evening head in unexpected directions as women-in-industry make for memorable situations.

Top Girls isn’t the only production to be performed at the National this year. Roger Allam currently stars in Rutherford and Son, while Ibsen’s Peer Gynt is adapted and is now Peter Gynt. But, if you’re looking for a play written by a leading feminist dramatist, you’ll want to see Top Girls.
