You may be in the West End, but shows can still transport you to the other side of the world. That’s exactly what True West does, Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize nominated play currently on at the Vaudeville Theatre. It’s not just the desert setting that provides the heat, but the rivalry between brothers Austin and Lee as they constantly try to outdo each other. On for a limited period, don’t miss out on your chance to see of Britain’s beloved actors tread the West End stage once more. So, if you enjoy a gritty drama, as well as seeing some of your favourite celebrities up close and personal, then you’ll want to book your tickets for True West as soon as you can.

When the curtain rises at the Vaudeville Theatre, you’ll be welcomed to America’s West Coast, home to warmer climates and the vast open road. At the start, you’ll meet Austin, a Hollywood screenwriter who has returned home to house sit for his mother during her vacation. As he housesits, he’s later greeted by Lee, his thieving older brother who has become a low-life in society.

Together, the pair decide to write a Hollywood script, with Lee inspired to come up with ideas for a storyline after Austin meets with a Hollywood producer. Clearly, the two can’t seem to catch a break with each other and under Saul’s instruction, the brothers must now work together in order to create the screenplay they’ve both wanted.

Previous winners for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama include Hamilton, Angels in America and Our Town, yet True West manages to hold its own. Don’t miss out on your chance to see the memorable production before it closes on 23rd February 2019, with Emilia going into the theatre after.
