We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Age Restriction: Children 3+

Over the years we have experienced some wonderful children’s shows that have captured imaginations and earned their place at the top of the pile, leading to their revivals in the years following. It happened with The Gruffalo. It happened with Room On The Broom. It has been happening for many years with The Snowman.

Now it is the turn of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt to make a triumphant return and it does so with a summer appearance at the West End’s Lyric Theatre.

Last seen in the capital 2013 (and following its original appearances at the Bristol Old Vic and West End’s Duchess Theatre in 2009), We’re Going On A Bear Hunt now introduces a new audience of youngsters to the colourful characters and memorable animals that make up its story.

The story comes from the pen of former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen and it follows four children and their father as they set off on the titular task of finding the legendary bear, adventuring through the great outdoors in the process.

Rosen was the Children’s Laureate between 2007 and 2009, releasing the book We’re Going On A Bear Hunt further back in 1989. His successful career has also included works such as Mind Your Own Business, Quick Let’s Get Out Of Here and more.

And this stage version of his 1989 classic is brought to life by director Sally Cookson, whose work is regularly seen in the capital via the likes of Hetty Feather at the Duke of York’s Theatre and 2018’s A Monster Calls at the Old Vic Theatre.

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, meanwhile, runs at the Lyric Theatre from Wednesday 4th July 2018.
