Opening in 1927, the venue was originally named the Theatre Masque. One of six theatres designed at the same time, the theatre is best known for housing small plays and one-man shows.

There is no dress code for performances at the Golden Theatre, with latecomers allowed into productions at the discretion of show breaks or management.
