Opening as the Alvin Theatre in 1927, the theatre has also been used as a CBS radio station during the 1930s. After World War Two, the venue began to host a range of productions, remaining as a theatre since.

There is no dress code for performances at the Neil Simon Theatre, with latecomers allowed into productions at the discretion of show breaks or management.
