About To Kill A Mockingbird

All rise for Matthew Modine in this acclaimed adaptation of Harper Lee’s literary classic.

Just under 60 years after Lee’s novel won the Pulitzer Prize, another lauded writer, Aaron Sorkin of The West Wing and The Social Network, brought the story to the stage. Witness the Oscar winner’s fresh take on one of the greatest American novels in history, with an award-winning actor in the spotlight.

The timeless story of To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in 1930s Alabama and centres on Atticus Finch (Modine), a lawyer defending a Black man wrongly accused of rape. Audiences watch the trial and other memories unfold through the eyes of Finch's daughter, Scout.

Viewers witness the courage of a man who stands up for justice in the face of prejudice. Even more poignantly, they also watch the loss of childhood innocence as Scout discovers the hate held by people she saw as neighbors.

To Kill a Mockingbird, which premiered in New York, became the most commercially successful play in Broadway history and earned nine Tony Award nominations. The West End production receives equal acclaim, with London Theatre calling the show “a richly emotional evening” in a four-star review.

To Kill a Mockingbird was nominated for six Oliviers: Best New Play, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (for David Moorst), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Pamela Nomvete), Best Actor (Rafe Spall), Best Director (Bartlett Sher), Best Set Design (Miriam Buether).
