Anna-Jane Casey Among Those Cast in Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre

Kevin Wathen, Howard Crossley, Alexander Loxton and Claudia Bradley Also Among Those Added to the West End Cast

Billy Elliot The Musical continues to be a popular draw in the West End and, following the last big casting announcement in October of last year comes the news that Anna-Jane Casey is set to join the cast alongside Kevin Wathen and more. They will join various cast members that remain from before, including Kay Milbourne, Ann Emery, Deka Walmsley and Simon Ray Harvey.

The full list of new cast members includes Casey, Wathan, Howard Crossley, Alexander Loxton, Claudia Bradley, Lee Hoy, Dean Maynard, Alan Mehdizadeh, Ryan O’Gorman, Charlotte Riby and Edmun Shaw.

Anna-Jane Casey is a well known actress in the world of musical theatre and has landed an array of roles over the last few decades. She was recently the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre, though she was also recently seen in The Comedy Of Errors at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Forbidden Broadway at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Sunday In The Park With George, also at the Menier Chocolate Factory. She has also made the transition to the screen with roles in the likes of EastEnders and Holby City.

Billy Elliot The Musical follows the plot of the movie Billy Elliot and sees the eponymous young boy turn his back on expectations, disinterested in boxing and working in the mines like his father and brothers and instead setting his sights on professional ballet. At first he is reluctant to let his family in on his secret but eventually, with their backing, he tries to follow his dreams to win a coveted place at the prestigious Royal Ballet School.

The show has been running in the capital since 2005, with Elton John providing the music and Lee Hall penning the book and lyrics. It remains one of the best received musicals in the country.

Billy Elliot The Musical remains at the Victoria Palace Theatre with the new cast taking over from 13th May 2013. It is currently booking to Saturday 21st December 2013.
