Bat Out Of Hell and Foxfinder announce closures

Thursday, 11th Oct 2018

Two shows running in the West End have revealed their closing dates recently, with audiences now having a limited time to catch them. Bat Out Of Hell is perhaps the more surprising one as it is one of the most popular shows currently running in the West End, but it has revealed that will be closing at the end of its current booking period in January 2019. Foxfinder, meanwhile, is set to close early at the Ambassadors Theatre, ending its run this month.

Bat Out Of Hell The Musical is the stage version of the Meat Loaf albums of the same name, put together by Jim Steinman, who penned the albums with Meat Loaf. It is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland called Obsidian (formerly Manhattan), where we meet the characters of Strat, Raven and Falco, the former two having fallen in love.
Strat, however, causes problems as his love of Raven will bring him into conflict with her father, Falco, who rules Obsidian with an iron fist.

The musical originally ran at the London Coliseum, having also appeared at worldwide locations prior, and has amassed a large following over the years. Its story and music have combined to make it one of the most talked-about productions in the capital and there is little doubt that theatregoers will be flocking to see it before its closure.
Bat Out Of Hell The Musical continues at the Dominion Theatre until Saturday 5th January 2019 (it then appears at new international locations).

Foxfinder, meanwhile, is a play running at the Ambassadors Theatre that stars Iwan Rheon. Directed by Rachel O’Riordan and written by Dawn King. The story focuses on the character of William Bloor, a 19-year-old foxfinder, who has been recruited to look into the contamination of the struggling farm run by Sam and Judith Covey. But matters on the location escalate as Bloor’s obsessive style and government questions regarding low harvest yield threaten to tear it all apart, with more questions arising as it progresses.

The show opened at the Ambassadors Theatre in early September and was due to continue until the same date as Bat Out Of Hell’s current closure. Instead, the production will now bow-out on Saturday 20th October 2018.
