Big - The Musical to get Liverpool debut

Friday, 1st Oct 2010

The UK production of the musical Big is set to open in Liverpool next February.

After enjoying 15 years of performances on Broadway, the show - based on the film starring Tom Hanks - is finally set to cross the pond with a UK tour.

Starring Strictly Come Dancing and Holby City star Tom Chambers as Josh, the production will open on February 18th 2011 at the city's Empire Theatre, where it will run until February 26th.

It is thought that the production will then stop off at various other locations before eventually arriving in London where it will begin a West End stint.

Producers James Milton and Paul Morrissey said: "At its heart, Big is a New York fairytale about the trials and triumphs of growing up.

"It is a story which continues to enchant."

The original film starring Hanks in the Oscar-nominated role of Josh was released in 1988 and follows the character as he is transformed from a child to an adult overnight after wishing he was a grown-up.
