Tuesday, 10th Aug 2010

The full cast for the upcoming production of Sebastian Faulk's novel Birdsong has been announced, with Ben Barnes in the lead role.

Set during and around the First World War, Barnes plays the character of Stephen Wraysford in the stage production of the critically acclaimed novel, with Genevieve O'Reilly performing opposite him in the role of Isabelle.

Barnes may be known to theatre-goers for his recent roles playing the leads in films of Dorian Gray and Prince Caspian, while O'Reilly was last seen on screen in the TV production of the Day of the Triffids.

Directed by Trevor Nunn, the stage adaptation by Rachel Wagstaff is also set to feature performances by Iain Mitchell, Owain Arthur and Florence Hall.

Scheduled to open on September 18th 2010 at the Comedy Theatre, the show is scheduled to run until January 15th 2011.

The play is to open after La Bete, starring David Hyde Pierce and Joanna Lumley, closes at the theatre.
