Ceiling collapse at Piccadilly Theatre during a performance of Death of a Salesman

Death of a Salesman

During a performance of Death of a Salesman at the Piccadilly Theatre, part of the ceiling collapsed in the auditorium, with audience members evacuated.

An initial statement was released by ATG which stated a section of plasterboard fell from the rear upper circle. The tweet said: "We are sorry to confirm that at 8pm this evening during a performance at the Piccadilly Theatre a section of plasterboard fell from the rear upper circle. The performance was immediately stopped and the theatre safely evacuated."

The morning after the incident, ATG confirmed that the performance on 7th November 2019 would also be cancelled, with investigations to the architectural structure of the Piccadilly Theatre taking place. The tweet said: "Following an incident at our Piccadilly Theatre last night, tonight’s performance is cancelled. We are ascertaining the extent of the situation, and will be providing an update on future performances as soon as possible."
