Clive Owen, Lia Williams and more to star in The Night of the Iguana

Friday, 1st Feb 2019

It has been announced that Tennessee Williams’ play The Night of the Iguana will return to the West End in 2019, featuring a star-studded line up of actors recognisable from hit television shows.

Clive Owen will star as Reverend T. Lawrence Shannon in the show, in his first West End engagement in 18 years. Performing on stage and screen, he is perhaps best known for his award-winning performance in the 2004 drama Closer.

Joining Owen on stage is an esteemed list of actors, including Lia Williams who played the Duchess of Windsor in The Crown and Anna Gunn best known from her performance as Skyler White in Breaking Bad.

Olivier Award-winning actor Julian Glover rounds off the four cast members announced for the upcoming production of The Night of the Iguana, with Glover receiving the award in 1993 for his performance in Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2.

Set in 1940, the play tells the story of a group of strangers in a hotel in Mexico. Bringing together a priest, a widow and a family of Nazis leads to interesting conversations, especially when a tropical rain-storm makes its way to the hotel.

The Night of the Iguana will open at the Noel Coward Theatre on 6th July 2019 for a 12 week engagement.

Tickets for The Night of the Iguana are not yet on sale.
