An American in Paris - Dominion Theatre

Updates have been revealed to the booking periods of two west end shows, this time in the forms of An American in Paris and The Kite Runner, the former running at the Dominion Theatre and the latter set to open at the Playhouse Theatre in June. Both have clearly proven popular with audiences as An American In Paris has added new dates that take it to January 2018 and The Kite Runner extends its run in the West End to August 2017.

An American In Paris is a musical that features songs like I’ll Build A Stairway To Paradise and I’ve Got Beginners Luck, amongst others, as a story set in the French capital unfolds. We focus on the character of Jerry Mulligan, who finds himself in the city of love following the Second World War, where he hopes to rebuild his life alongside characters like Adam Hochberg and Henri Baurel, plus the beautiful Lise Dassin. He has seen some horrible things in the war, but now he attempts to turn things around.

The production is the famous story adapted from the well known film. The latter starred Gene Kelly and company, whilst the West End edition stars Robert Fairchild as Mulligan alongside Leanne Cope as Dassin.

The production continues at the Dominion Theatre and is now booking there for performances up to Saturday 27th January 2018.

Meanwhile, The Kite Runner is another adaptation, this time of the book of the same name by Khaled Hosseini (which was also adapted into a successful film).
Opening in Afghanistan, The Kite Runner depicts a terrible incident that will play on the mind of the main character for years to come. The show is set over many years, chronicling Amir’s life as Afghanistan changes from the 1970s coup to more recent events, all whilst Amir feels guilt over the events of one life-changing day.

The novel has proven to be a popular one and this translated into West End success when it opened at the Wyndham’s Theatre in 2016. It returns to the Playhouse Theatre this June and, thanks to the new booking extension, can now be seen until Saturday 26th August 2017.
