Extensions for Bat Out Of Hell and Mamma Mia! in the West End

Wednesday, 18th Apr 2018

Once again we turn attentions to the shows that add new dates in the West End, with Bat Out of Hell The Musical adding new performances to it new run at the Dominion Theatre and Mamma Mia extending its long run at the Novello Theatre.

Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical returns to the capital this month, following its previous appearance at the London Coliseum, and it is clear that it remains as popular as it did last time around. The high demand for tickets has ensured a new batch has been released, meaning that the show is now booking to October 2018.

Bat Out Of Hell is, of course, the popular Jim Steinman musical that takes its cues from the Meat Loaf albums Bat Out Of Hell and Bat Out Of Hell 2: Back Into Hell. It is a post-apocalyptic tale set in a wasteland called Obsidian, where we meet a range of characters like Strat, Raven, Sloane and Falco, with Raven the daughter of Falco and Strat in love with her. This could spell trouble for Strat as Falco is the world’s despotic ruler.

The show began previews this month and has its official opening on Thursday 19th April 2018. The show is now booking to Saturday 27th October 2018.

Meanwhile, Mamma Mia! is another jukebox musical that celebrates another well known chart act, in this case Abba. The show is set on a Greek Island, with the main character of Sophie Sheridan attempting to find the real identity of her father ahead of her wedding.

The show has had many West End homes, opening at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999. It also played at the Prince of Wales Theatre before it made its way to its current home of the Novello Theatre in 2012 when Book Of Mormon opened.

And it remains popular, with audiences flocking to see the show that was also adapted into a high profile film in 2008 (a sequel to which is released this year).

Mamma Mia! is now running at the Novello Theatre for performance up to Saturday 2nd March 2019.
