Bat Out of Hell The Musical

It’s that time again in which we report on the updates to the booking schedules of high profile west end shows, with four production adding new dates in the capital.

Wicked, An American in Paris and The Play That Goes Wrong have all extended their runs at their respective homes, whilst Bat Out Of Hell, the Meat Loaf musical that closed at the London Coliseum in August, announces a 2018 return.

Wicked is the popular musical that runs at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, which serves as a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz and tells the story of the rise of the Wicked Witch of the West, alongside her rivalry with Glinda the Good Witch. The production continues to attract fans from around the world, making it one of the capital’s most successful musicals and, thanks to a new extension, is now booking for performances to Saturday 1st December 2018.

Meanwhile, An American In Paris is a more recent addition to the capital, having opened at the Dominion Theatre in March of this year. It tells the story of American GI Jerry Mulligan who falls in love with Lise, a ballerina, in Paris just after the Second World War.

It stars Ashley Day as Jerry Mulligan and Leanne Cope as Lise, with bookings now extended to Saturday 28th April 2018.

Then there’s The Play That Goes Wrong, a comedy that has been a much-discussed show since it opened at the Duchess Theatre in 2014. Portraying an amateur theatre company attempting to stage a disastrous murder mystery production, it is arguably one of the most popular comedies in the capital and has spawned two sister shows during its run, which have also enjoyed West End success.

The Play That Goes Wrong continues to run at the Duchess Theatre and is now booking for performances up to Sunday 30th September 2018.

Finally, Bat Out Of Hell is Jim Steinman’s musical version of the Meat Loaf album of the same name, which focuses on love in a dystopian society. With many well known Meat Loaf songs from the titular album and its sequels, it won over critics when it ran at the London Coliseum earlier this year.

On the final performance of the show in August it was revealed that the musical will return to the capital in 2018.
