Extensions for Wicked and The Simon & Garfunkel Story

Wednesday, 21st Nov 2018

The latest shows to add new dates to their runs in the West End are the ever-popular blockbuster musical Wicked and the unique showcase The Simon & Garfunkel Story. The former extends to November 2019 whilst the latter adds new dates at the Lyric Theatre in the New Year.

Wicked is one of the most famous shows running in the capital so it is no wonder that producers have felt the need to release a new batch of tickets. The production has already extended on numerous occasions since its opening at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in September 2006.

But then its popularity was no surprise following its success on Broadway and its setting in the world of Oz, made famous by L Frank Baum’s novel and the iconic film The Wizard Of Oz. It is set long before Dorothy lands in the realm, as depicted in the film, and follows the rivalry between Glinda and Elphaba, the former beautiful and the latter cursed with emerald green skin. Eventually their rivalry spills out into the whole of Oz as one becomes Glinda the Good Witch and the other Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

Thanks to its extension, Wicked is now booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre to Saturday 30th November 2019.

Meanwhile, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is a new musical starring Charles Blyth and Sam O’Hanlon as the titular folk duo. Performances take place in December, but new set performances have been added on certain dates in January and beyond. Whilst the upcoming run takes place at the Vaudeville Theatre, the new dates will take place at the Lyric Theatre instead, the latter being known as the ongoing home of Thriller Live.

The show sees the performers embark on a journey through Simon & Garfunkel’s back catalogue, including songs like The Sound Of Silence and others.

The Simon & Garfunkel Story adds the following dates at the Lyric Theatre: Monday 21st January 2019, Monday 25th February 2019, Monday 25th March 2019, Monday 29th April 2019, Monday 20th May 2019 and Monday 24th June 2019.
