Fiddler on the Roof to transfer to the Playhouse Theatre

Friday, 25th Jan 2019

The West End will soon to be home to a revival of Fiddler on the Roof, with the critically acclaimed production at the Menier Chocolate Factory transferring to the Playhouse Theatre.

Fiddler on the Roof is set at the turn of the 1905 Russian Revolution in the small town of Anatevka, where a Jewish community resides. The show tells the story of Tevye and Golde, a pious Jewish couple who have five daughters: Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Shprintze and Bielke. When a local matchmaker tells the family that there is a suitor wishing to marry the eldest daughter, Tzeitel is reluctant to fulfil the suitor’s wishes, as she has plans to marry Motel. Eventually marrying Motel, the wedding ceremony is interrupted with a stampede of Russians who ruin the proceedings.

Directed by Trevor Nunn, whose previous directorial credits include Les Misérables, Starlight Express and Cats, Fiddler On The Roof is sure to be another West End smash hit under his belt.

Although the complete cast is currently unknown, Andy Kuhn and Judy Nyman will reprise their roles as Tevye and Golde in the upcoming production.

Fiddler on the Roof will open at the Playhouse Theatre on 21st March 2019, with tickets available now.
