Lucas Hare, Mark Carlisle and More Joining Henry Goodman in Brecht’s Play Transferring from the Chichester Festival Theatre

It has already been revealed that the Duchess Theatre transfer of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui will feature Henry Goodman, returning to the show following his appearance onstage when it ran at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Now it has been revealed that the rest of the cast of the original run will be returning when it makes its appearance in the West End, as well as director Jonathan Church.

Lucas Hare is one of the returning cast members, as well as performers such as Mark Carlisle. Hare has appeared in a range of productions for the National Theatre, including Children of the Sun, The Last of the Haussmans and Season’s Greetings, alongside west end shows such as Journey’s End. Beyond these parts he has also appeared on screen with an array of parts on television such as EastEnders (in the recurring role of P.C. Lockett), Touching Evil, Ultimate Force and The Bill, plus film roles like his small appearance in the 20th Bond movie Die Another Day.

The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui represents the rise of Adolf Hitler through a story focusing on Arturi Ui, a Chicago Gangster who aims to gain power of the people and the city through protection rackets in the 1930s.
Henry Goodman portrays the title role and he does so on the back of a career that includes roles in Yes, Prime Minister at the Chichester and the Gielgud Theatre in 2010 and The Winslow Boy at the Old Vic Theatre. For the screen he has taken on roles from the movie The Damned United to the television series The Bill.

Other cast members include Keith Baxter, William Gaunt, Michael Feast, Joe McGann, Mark Alex Giannini, Charlie Hamblett, Lizzy McInnerny, Amanda Gordon, Hugh John, Richard Mark, Colin Stinton, Peter Moreton, Steve Simmonds, Benny Young and David Sturzaker.

The Duchess Theatre is currently the home of Fences, which features Lenny Henry in the lead role, whilst The Wind In The Willows is set to follow The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui after it runs from Wednesday 18th September 2013.
