The Acclaimed Production Transferring from the Hampstead Theatre in April 2014

Imelda Staunton is currently starring in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People at the Hampstead Theatre, where it is getting glowing reviews, and it has been announced that audiences in the West End will be able to get a look-in on the production as it transfers to the Noël Coward Theatre in April, replacing the recently-announcing closing show The Full Monty.

Staunton appears alongside Lloyd Owen in the play, with Jonathan Kent directing. There are numerous additional actors appearing in the show at the Hampstead and time will tell if these performers will be making the transition to the West End alongside Staunton and Owen.

Good People focuses on a South Boston single mother – Margie (Staunton) - who is struggling to make ends-meet. Things have always been tough with her thanks to her life in a deprived part of town but now she has lost another job and things are looking even more desperate. But then some hope glimmers on the horizon as an ex arrives in town, someone who has made plenty of money, and she decides to jump on the opportunity and corners him, leading to some unexpected situations.

Imelda Staunton is a renowned actress whose career has spanned many decades. In this time she has appeared on prestigious stages like the National Theatre, picked up two Laurence Olivier Awards and starred in numerous movies, including two with the well known Mike Leigh – Vera Drake and Another Year. She was last seen in the West End in Sweeney Todd at the Adelphi Theatre and prior to that appeared alongside Matthew Horne in Entertaining Mr Sloane at the Trafalgar Studios with other credits like Olivier Award-winning appearances in A Chorus Of Disapproval/The Corn Is Green in 1985 and Into The Woods in 1991.

Staunton is one of many stars of the screen set to appear on a London stage this year; Kevin Spacey will appear in Clarence Darrow at the Old Vic and Gemma Arterton will appear in Made In Dagenham The Musical, to name but two.

Good People is at the Noël Coward Theatre from Saturday 19th April 2014 (previews from Thursday 10th April 2014) to Saturday 14th June 2014.
