Foxfinder - Ambassadors Theatre

Recently, we heard word that Foxfinder is headed to the Ambassadors Theatre this September, giving theatregoers in the capital another opportunity to witness a production that has already delighted audiences at the Finborough Theatre.

Now it has been confirmed that Iwan Rheon, best known to audiences for Games Of Thrones and Misfits, will be playing the lead role of William Bloor, the titular foxfinder. He will be directed by Rachel O’Riordan.

William Bloor is a determined man and he puts his obsession to good use as a foxfinder, recruited to find the fox that could be contaminating the farm of Sam and Judith Covey. The troubled couple have found themselves on hard times and the presence of William is not going to help matters, but it’s worse than they might think as his obsessive sense of duty could not only be their undoing but his own undoing as well.

Dawn King’s play originated at the Finborough Theatre in 2011 and received praise from critics, who will undoubtedly be delighted to see it revived in the capital in 2018, this time with a run at the world famous West End.

So it is good that producers have recruited a familiar face to play William Bloor. Iwan Rheon is best known for the aforementioned Game Of Thrones and Misfits, amongst other television shows, and he has also amassed stage credits like Remembrance Day at the Royal Court Theatre, The Devil Inside Him at the National Theatre and Eight Miles High at the Royal Court Theatre, amongst others.

The Ambassadors Theatre is currently the home of Pressure, David Haig’s play about RAF meteorologist Group Captain James Stagg, who faces tough decisions ahead of the D-Day Landings. That production remains at the venue until early September, allowing Foxfinder to begin performances in the same month. The venue recently said goodbye to the long-running Stomp, granting it a change of pace by presenting a variety of plays in 2018.

Foxfinder will be one of them, running at the Ambassadors Theatre from Thursday 6th September 2018 to Saturday 5th January 2018.
