London Palladium

2019 is shaping up to be a big year for West End theatre fans, with an array of high profile, iconic musicals returning to the capital, including Mary Poppins, 9 To 5 and Evita. However, we now know that another popular show is set to make an appearance as Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is revealed for the London Palladium from June 2019.

The show will enjoy a short run at the famous London venue during the summer, reintroducing audiences to various well known musical numbers and characters, ‘re-imagined’ according to the press release.

Joseph is the son of Jacob and has an uncanny ability to interpret dreams, which creates envy in the minds of his eleven brothers, who sell him into slavery. But his gift will eventually return him home as he finds himself standing alongside the Egyptian Pharaoh, via a stint in prison, as he tries to right wrongs.

The musicals barely stops to breathe, with songs throughout, and these have made it one of the most iconic of all time as audiences hear classics like Any Dream Will Do, Go Go Go Joseph, Joseph All The Time, Close Every Door and Those Canaan Days, amongst a host of others.

At the time of writing the cast has not been revealed, but some top names have previously played the main role over the decades since it was first staged (in an earlier form) in the early 1970s. In recent times the most famous was Lee Mead, who won the BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do so that he could play Joseph during the West End revival at the Adelphi Theatre in 2007.

So it is clear that it is still a production that captures the imaginations of audiences, who will relish in this new revival at its most famous home, the London Palladium (where it played with Jason Donovan in the early 1990s).

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat makes its welcome return to the London Palladium from Thursday 11th July 2019 (previews from Wednesday 26th June 2019) to Sunday 8th September 2019.
