Alan Morrissey, Lorna Warn, Glynis Barber and Gary Trainor Also Appearing in the West End Production in 2015

The Aldwych Theatre will soon be replacing its signs for current double bill Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies with Dance ‘Til Dawn, the latest dance show from Strictly Come Dancing stars Vincent and Flavia. But come 2015 all eyes will be in the award-winning Broadway show Beautiful – The Carole King Musical as it lands at the venue in February.

The production was announced late this summer and now cast members have been revealed, with Katie Brayben set to portray the eponymous Carole King. The rest of the cast includes Alan Morrissey as Gerry Goffin, Glynis Barber as Genie Glien and Gary Trainor as Don Kirshner and Lorna Want as Cynthia Weil.

Marc Bruni directs a show in which one woman rises to stardom and pens a number of well known hits for some of the world’s most famous artists. King penned work on her own and alongside her husband Gerry Goffin before embarking on a solo performing career and releasing numerous hit albums from the 1970s onwards.

The show features performances of many of the songs she has to her name. So those with theatre tickets hear the likes of Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Take Good Care Of My Baby, So Far Away, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and I Feel The Earth Move, among others.

With such pedigree it was important that producers recruit someone with plenty of experience and with this in mind they have centred on Katie Brayben as the actress to portray Carole King. Her credits include King Charles III at the Wyndham’s Theatre, American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre, Ragtime at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, 13 at the National Theatre and Mamma Mia! in the West End, in addition to further productions around the UK like Joking Apart at the Salisbury Playhouse.

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical is set to appear at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End from Tuesday 24th February 2015 (previews from Tuesday 10th February 2015) to Saturday 13th June 2015.
