Waitress - Adelphi Theatre

It was back in August that we first heard that Waitress would be headed to the Adelphi Theatre in 2019 and in that time we have had a slow trickle of updates as new cast members have been revealed.

With that in mind, we hear the next set of names for the production as Laura Baldwin portrays a fellow waitress to the show’s lead character of Jenna (Katharine McPhee), alongside Marisha Wallace as well. Other characters will be played by David Hunter and Peter Hannah.

The character of Jenna embarks on a story with both fear and hope during its runtime. We meet her when she is at her lowest ebb and begins a journey that will add a new sense of purpose to her life. She has a job making pies and waiting tables in a small town, but it is clear that she needs to make big changes, as seen by her abusive marriage to Earl (Hannah) leading her astray, and when she relocates to a new location and discovers a baking competition, she finds the courage to be true to herself.

But who are the new cast members? They all join the show having amassed credits in a wide variety of other roles. In particular, regular visitors to The Other Palace in London will recognise Laura Baldwin as she has appeared in three shows there – Eugenius in 2018, Big Fish in 2017 and The Little Beasts in 2017.

Waitress is the latest musical to appear at the Adelphi Theatre, the current home of Kinky Boots. The latter production, which has been running at the West End venue since August 2015, is set to close its doors in the New Year, giving audiences a limited amount of time to witness a show with music from Cindy Lauper.

That closes on Saturday 12th January 2019, allowing Waitress to open its doors at the Adelphi Theatre on Wednesday 6th March 2019 (previews from Friday 8th February 2019). It is initially booking to Saturday 15th May 2019.
